European Competition: Sustainable Energy and Digital Video.
Yourvid Save Energy 2010-2011.
Announcement and Organization of the Competition:
CECE ‑Spanish Confederation of Centers for Teaching (SP), Ave Maria Schools (SP), CSVM (IT), EEN (IT), UoC (GR), Kolping-Bildungswerk Wuerttemberg e. V. (DE), Marijampole (LT) and Europartners 2000 (BG) announce the “European Competition: Sustainable Energy and Digital Video. Yourvid Save Energy 2010-2011” under the subject “My School and Sustainable Energy”.
Goals of the Competition:
- Promoting the contact among students from all over Europe; encouraging a critical attitude on the part of the students towards different situations of everyday life, as well as developing positive and creative responses aimed to solve inefficiencies found in the use of energy.
- Incorporating the values of sustainability to the educational context by means of training in order to improve the understanding of sustainable energy and to set energy saving as an educational target both in the school and society.
- Using the resources available in the educational institution area in a sustainable and more efficient manner.
Target Audience:
Students from 10 to 18 years of age and teachers in public or private education centers of the European Union.
Categories:
Category A: Students from 10 to 12 years of age.
Category B: Students from 13 to 16 years of age.
Category C: Students from 17 to 18 years of age.
Category D: Teachers:
IMPORTANT NOTE:
- Students of each center will be organized in groups of 2 to 4 members and a teacher.
- Only one team of 2 teachers (maximum) will be able to participate from each center.
- All of them must belong to public or private education centers of the European Union.
Subject Areas of the Competition:
Submitted videos must be related to sustainability and urban environment in the local area where the participant education center is located. The videos must be aimed to divulgate the efficient use of the natural resources in the city in order to minimize the negative impact of the urban social models and to make citizens aware of the need of improving the quality of the urban environment.
Besides, the videos might also be aimed to diagnose the school and local area current situation. Training, educating, raising awareness, showing sustainable actions developed in the school and local environments, as well as promoting citizen involvement in using sustainable energy.
In order to meet these goals, the work might be focused on the subject areas below, taking always the following keywords as a reference: sustainable energy + school + energy saving + training for saving and promoting the efficient use of energy

Energy saving equipment in school
Rational and efficient use of energy
Air quality
Sustainable urban mobility
Environmental education and citizen involvement on the topic of sustainable energy
Green and responsible shopping; supporting small business

Registration Date:
From the 18th of October 2010 to the 31st of December 2010
Submission Deadline:
Works can be submitted until the 30th of April 2011.
Jury Assessment:
During the months of May and June 2011.
Winner Groups Announcement:
The national winners will be announced at the end of May 2011.
The winners of the European final will be announced on 15th June 2011.
Awards Delivery:
In September/October 2011.

Video Submission:
Participating groups will submit their videos together with a submission form (see attachment) filled in and signed by the teacher to the address (Fill in by each partner)
Video formats: videos can be submitted in WMV, AVI, MPG-1, and MPG4 formats.
Maximum file size: 100 MG
General Conditions:
Videos must be from 1 to 3 minutes long.
Videos must include a narration in English and subtitles in the local language or a narration in the local language and subtitles in English
Videos that have been already submitted to a different competition cannot be submitted.
Works must be suitable to be shown in a public forum, they shall not violate any rights of advertising or the right to intimacy of any person or institution, and they shall not attempt in any way against the personal or property rights of any person. Any conflict of interests will be solved according to the laws of each Member State of the European Commission.
The participants agree that their creations can be used by the European Commission and the Yourvid Save Energy project team for free and without any special permission.
Awarding Criteria:
1.- Relevance and importance of sustainable energy.
2.- Originality of the idea, as well as ability to develop educational values to meet the targets defined in relation to sustainable energy.
3.- Didactic quality
4.- Artistic quality (NOTE: The technical quality is not an awarding criterion)
Jury:
Each country will have a jury of 3 members:
1 expert on digital video,
1 expert on sustainable energy and
1 YOURVID Save Energy participant

One notebook per participant for the first winners of each of the 4 categories of the competition.
Additional Information:
The competition falls under the activities of the YSE (Yourvid Save Energy) project, financed by the EACEA of the European Commission and is part of the Sustainable Energy European Campaign (2009-2011), in which CECE, the coordinator, takes part as an educational partner.
